What Are the Requirements for Repairing or Building a New Dock?
A construction permit is required to build a new dock or repair or replace an existing dock. It's almost never too early to get the paperwork started because you have 12 months to commence work once the permit is issued.
Quick Facts
Simple redecking does not require a permit
Change of any structural member requires a permit
Change in size or location requires a permit
Setbacks in the R20 zone (Cupsaw, Erskine, Skyline) are 15 feet from the side yard property lines
All docks are subject to NJDEP Freshwater Wetlands and Protection Act and Flood Hazard Area Control Act rules.
